
Dwayne Collins
Lead Pastor / Preaching and Teaching
Dwayne was born in 1957 and was raised by his grandparents in Northeastern Georgia. After graduating from high school, Dwayne enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served for four years. During his tour of duty at Camp Lejeune, NC, he met and married Jeanne, who not only won his heart but also won him to faith in Jesus Christ. Following his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, the couple moved to Sylva, NC, and entered Western Carolina University, where they both completed undergraduate degrees.
Following graduation from WCU, Dwayne was accepted into Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. During their time in Seminary, Dwayne served as Associate Pastor of Riverview Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, responsible for youth and evangelism ministry. Both he and Jeanne also served as Summer Missionaries at Possum Kingdom Lake, in charge of children’s ministries and personal evangelism.
After earning his Master of Divinity degree in 1988, Dwayne received a call from the mission on Topsail Island, which would become North Topsail Shores Baptist Church. The Lord, in His grace and love, has blessed Dwayne and Jeanne with the opportunity to see God’s awesome power in bringing people to Himself and growing His Church. God has also blessed Dwayne and Jeanne with two wonderful children: Joel and Jeanne Marie, an awesome daughter-in-law, Stephanie, a great son-in-law, Oren, and six fantastic grandchildren: Annabelle, Jude, Charlotte, Ruthelle, Jonathan, and McKenna.

Bradley Williams
Associate Pastor/ Discipleship
Bradley was born in Oakboro, NC. Following high school, he joined the US Marine Corps in 1999. After multiple duty stations and deployments, he retired in 2019. He met his wife, Ashley, in high school, and they were married in 1999. They are blessed with two beautiful girls, Kaylee and Emma.
Bradley was saved at an early age. After moving back to Onslow County from Middle Tennessee, Bradley and his family purchased a home in Sneads Ferry, NC. Shortly thereafter, His family joined North Topsail Shores Baptist Church in 2013. Later, he was ordained as a Deacon in 2015.
In 2016, he was called into ministry and was licensed and ordained into the Gospel Ministry in March of 2017. He currently serves as the Associate Pastor of North Topsail Shores Baptist Church.
Bradley was saved at an early age. After moving back to Onslow County from Middle Tennessee, Bradley and his family purchased a home in Sneads Ferry, NC. Shortly thereafter, His family joined North Topsail Shores Baptist Church in 2013. Later, he was ordained as a Deacon in 2015.

Mark Detrich
Deacon/ Chairman
Mark was born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where he came to believe and trust in the Lord for salvation at a young age.
He was blessed to have served in the United States Marine Corps for 30 years from 1987 to 2017.
Mark and his wife, Tracy, married in June of 1991, then settled in Sneads Ferry, NC, in 1993, raising two daughters, Ariel and Victoria.
Mark and Tracy became members of NTSBC in June 2019. In response to a call to serve, he first served as an usher and then became a yoke Deacon in November 2021. In February 2023, he was ordained as a Deacon. Mark is currently serving as the Chairman of Deacons
He was blessed to have served in the United States Marine Corps for 30 years from 1987 to 2017.

Matthew Chaney
Deacon/ Vice Chairman
Matthew was born in 1991 at the Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital. Matthew accepted the Lord in 2003 and attended North Topsail Shores Baptist Church until 2010. In 2010, Matthew moved to Wisconsin, where he joined the United States Marine Corps. After being discharged in 2014, Matthew returned to the Sneads Ferry area. Matthew was called to serve the Lord and the church family and was ordained as a deacon in 2015.
In 2016, Matthew moved to the mountains of Georgia to be with his fiancée, Laken. Matthew and Laken were married in 2017 in Clayton, Georgia, where Matthew served as a Deputy Sheriff at the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office until December of 2023.
Matthew and Laken moved to the Sneads Ferry area with their daughters, Liberty and Madie. Matthew, Laken, and Liberty transferred their membership letters from Mountain Grove Baptist Church to North Topsail Shores Baptist Church on December 24th, 2023. Matthew returned to his calling as a deacon and filled in the various positions that needed assistance in the church.
In 2016, Matthew moved to the mountains of Georgia to be with his fiancée, Laken. Matthew and Laken were married in 2017 in Clayton, Georgia, where Matthew served as a Deputy Sheriff at the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office until December of 2023.

Jerry Chaney
Deacon
Jerry was born in 1960 and was raised by his parents in Dallas, Texas, and was saved at an early age. After graduating from high school, Jerry joined the US Marine Corps, where he served for 20 years and retired in 1998. It was while in the Marines that he met his wife, Tina.
Jerry and (then fiancée) Tina started attending North Topsail Shores Baptist Church in November 1987, in only the second service held in the new building on the beach (currently the Merritt Building). They joined the Church on January 17th, 1988, Jerry by transfer of letter and Tina by profession of faith. Tina was baptized the next Sunday, and they were wed in the church on January 31st, as the first wedding held inside the new Church building. Jerry has served in many different capacities in the church, including Sunday School/VBS teacher for middle school through adult, various team leader positions, and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He was ordained as a Deacon in 2003.
Jerry has an AAS Degree in Emergency Medical Science and has served as an EMT, Paramedic, and 9-1-1 Dispatcher for Onslow County. He also served as the EMS Coordinator/ Instructor for Coastal Carolina Community College, and now trains 9-1-1 Dispatchers across North America. Jerry and Tina have raised 5 children (all of whom were baptized in the ocean), and they have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Bob Sheldon
Deacon
Born September 6th, 1946, in Tarpon Springs, Florida, the second of nine children of Wilford Harvey Sheldon and Madalyn Aronson Sheldon. Bob's father flew for the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a sponge diver after the war. He later re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, flying planes for 24 years before retiring. Wilford's extensive deployments resulted in stays in England, Florida, California, Virginia, Illinois, and New Jersey.
Bob graduated from Mainland Regional High School in Linwood, NJ, in 1964. He opened his heart to Jesus in the summer of 1964. Bob subsequently attended the University of Maryland from 1964-65; enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1965-69, honorably discharged August 30th, 1969 (SSGT E-6), MOS (0251, 9940, 0140); reentered the University of Maryland, graduating in May of 1973, with a B.S. degree in Physical Education; and is a retired teacher and coach from Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery County, Maryland.
After having taught from 1973 to 1999, Bob and Erlene Williams Sheldon were joined together in marriage at Seaview Baptist Church, Linwood, NJ, on October 25th, 1967. Bob and Erlene relocated to Sneads Ferry, NC, in June of 2015. By transfer of letter from Riverdale Baptist Church, Upper Marlboro, MD, Bob and Erlene joined the congregation of North Topsail Shores Baptist Church in July of 2015. Bob served as a Yoked Deacon from 2016-2017 and has served as a Deacon from 2017 to the present. Bob is also an active NTSBC Choir member and is involved in the Evangelistic Outreach Ministry to the Vietnamese community in Jacksonville, NC, and the surrounding areas.

Dennis Welch
Deacon (Yoke)
Dennis was born in 1967 in Mabie, WV. After graduating from high school in 1985, Dennis moved to Northern Virginia for employment. After a brief period of employment in construction, Dennis took a job with Potomac Electric Power Company in Washington, DC, in 1985. Dennis lived around the DC/MD metropolitan area during his career at PEPCO/GENON. Dennis started attending Hughesville Baptist Church in Hughesville, MD, where he was saved in 1996.
Dennis was ordained as a deacon in 1999 and served the Lord at Hughesville Baptist Church for 5 years. Dennis also later served as a deacon at Paramount Baptist Church in Hagerstown, MD. Dennis has served in the life of the church wherever he lived, always involved in evangelism, outreach, supporting missions, as well as participating in mission trips to Haiti and Costa Rica. After 36 years of employment with PEPCO/GENON, Dennis and his wife, Sheri, both retired in May 2022 and moved to Sneads Ferry, NC, where they joined North Topsail Shores Baptist Church in June.
He currently teaches an adult bible study on Sunday mornings, leads the evangelism team, and serves as a yoke deacon. Dennis also owned and operated a small business from February 2023 to May 2025 and is now fully retired, focusing his time on serving the Lord. Dennis and Sheri are very blessed to have four wonderful children and four grandchildren.
